Maukie the cat!

Show-me.

Posted in Tips/Info on April 10th, 2008 by PM

To put a face to the name of the person you are blogging with, here is my screenshot of a post I am developing about, yep you guessed it, piggies.

screen-pigs.jpg

These piggie images are 800px wide, about the average “source” image size. They will be displayed at 400px. If this blog was a two-column layout, the images might have been displayed at 600px. To put the screenshot in perspective I am using a 24 inch Cinema Display and all those icons along the right side are SOME of the applications I use. One dreads upgrades.

I have several analytical helpers to tell me who visits PM. Info includes, pages visited, referrers, search key words, country, computer software, size of screen, incoming links, outgoing links, with many many options I don’t use yet. You get the idea.

It comes as a surprise, from my traffic at least, the Internet Explorer browser is used less than 10% with Firefox in the 80% range. If you are developing ( coding ) sites, that is good news if you know what I mean. 1/2 of my visitors are unique. 60% from the USA, I am in Chicago. 15% from direct links, 45% from other sites, 40% from searches. Stumbleupon visitors are my biggest repeat referrers.

Oh, and if you have anything on piggies, please let PM know.

Well, that’s enough about me. Put a face to your name and let’s hear a little more about you. To do that here are easy to follow instructions to contact the same folks plus new friends. Read the rest of this entry »

A picture worth a thousand words.

Posted in Death, Issues/Opinions on February 28th, 2008 by PM

Winding down a pleasant day when this post found its way here. The story provided by The reality of what humans do needs few words from us. Their post “a picture worth a thousand words” is compelling. Visit their site for a more complete story.

paws-dead1.jpg

The graphic picture shows the grim reality of pet over-population. The photo caption reads: Two days’ worth of euthanized animals sit in barrels in cold storage at the Kern County Animal Shelter on Mount Vernon Avenue. The small animal shelter euthanizes about 25,000 animals every year.

Stories like this are difficult to report. But with dialog solutions come easier. Here are two more posts that mention the issue of neutering at lady omega and animals as friends

Bird in my ass.

Posted in Gross, Humor, Stories on February 26th, 2008 by PM

FREDERICK:

A bird flew in my ass today. Yeah. I was sitting down in Central Park, just relaxing and reading the newspaper. I felt fine.

birdman2.jpgbirdman.jpg

Then all of a sudden, SWOOP, right in my ass…a bird. A tiny bird the size of, oh, I don’t know, the size of my palm. Really tiny, really tiny. Just flew right in my butt, without any explanation.

What did I do? I’m getting to that. It’s not everyday that a bird scoops down at a million miles per hour and seeks shelter up in your private region. Am I right?

Let me continue…

I stand up for obvious reasons and I proceed to wiggle my buttocks but nothing. The bird won’t come out and I could feel it’s heartbeat pulsating. Strangest feeling, let me tell you. So I try walking it off…still, nothing. Stubborn bird. I started doing jumping jacks, nothing. I began skipping, nothing. I started running up a hill and back down a hill, nothing. I dropped my draws and dipped my ass into the pond, nothing. I went so far as to climb over a fence and start scraping my bum across the grass, rocks and dirt in order to free the fellow, like a dog scrapes it’s behind on a rug. You’ve seen that right? But still to no avail, nothing. The bird stayed deep inside, clinging to the walls of my darkest of holies. Read the rest of this entry »

How much is too much to pay for your sick pet?

Posted in Health, Issues/Opinions, Professional on February 11th, 2008 by PM

An article in Salon “What I wouldn’t do for my cat” inspired the following letters (editor’s pick) regarding medical treatment for your sick pet.

My cat = my new carpeting

Last year, my husband got a nice bonus from work. The same week our cat, Leo, ate a penny (yes, ate a penny, in front of our two kids). Turns out that is a very awful thing for a cat to do. He ended up with pancreatitis, mouth infections, ulcers, was in an emergency vet hospital for a week on IV’s, all sorts of treatments. And, he pulled through. My kids love that cat–but the treatment? Took the bonus–ALL of it–over $5,000. I joked that the cat ate my new carpeting, which is what I had intended to spend the $5,000.

Yes, we love him and I am glad to have him, but I still think we were crazy to spend that much money on a cat. Read the rest of this entry »

Single black female.

Posted in News, Oddly enough on February 8th, 2008 by PM

SINGLE BLACK FEMALE seeks male companionship, ethnicity unimportant. I’m a very good girl who LOVES to play . I love long walks in the woods, riding in your pickup truck, hunting, camping and fishing trips, cozy winter nights lying by the fire. Candlelight dinners will have me eating out of your hand. I’ll be at the front door when you get home from work, wearing only what nature gave me. Call 404 875 6420 and ask for Daisy, I’ll be waiting….

Over 15,000 men found themselves talking to the Atlanta Humane Society…

editor—this ad was said to be placed in the Atlanta Journal and PM checked the phone listing. It is the number listing the Atlanta Humane Society but the number does not work. Two other numbers were also dialed(?) with the same result. Well, with Valentine’s coming up…

One thing for certain. 8 out of 10 dogs in South Beach wear clothes. Many wear hats. And SB could be the Italian greyhound capital of the world. Yes, you will find quite a few chihuahuas and bulldogs. But the greyhounds
are—everywhere.

Details Power 50. Iggy.

Posted in Issues/Opinions, Oddly enough on December 17th, 2007 by PM

Details announced their top fifty most influential people and called PM to comment on their @ 29th choice…….Iggy, the Brussels griffin mix terrier.

Power 50—December 2007

Meet the most influential men under 45. These would include the founder of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg, OK. Sergey and Larry, rogerthat. Justin T, Yo. NBC Entertainment co-chair Ben Silverman, that’s a wrap. Harry Potter, alakazam! And #29 Iggy the Brussels griffin mix terrier, yip.

It was hard to say where public opinion was at the beginning but after a few days there were quotables. “We truly are learning so much as a nation. God bless that Iggy for all he has to say, and will continue to say.” “Just tell me the new mommy of Iggy isn’t Britney.” “This story REALLY needs to be put down and out of its misery.” “They saved his life, then cut off his balls. Maybe they’ll cover that on Wednesday’s show.” “They’re just using Iggy to try to drive Ellen DeGeneres crazy. Short trip…”

The story broke in early October. A month later it became “IggyGate: Iggy Ready to Talk” on ET. On 10 December the New York Post runs “Ellen Rebuilding Animal Shelters Nationwide to Rebuild Damaged Rep” which has former Meow Mix owner, Richard Thompson footing the bill. As recently as 15 December huffingtonpost.com posts the 13th Annual Top 10 PR Blunders List topping with “FEMA’s fake news conference” and “Iggy come home” at #4.

Details pats its write-up with “The winner in this drama? Iggy—who made Ellen, and all her millions of viewers, his bitch.”
