Mapping of the cat brain.

Posted in Artworks, Humor, Oddly enough on February 5th, 2008 by PM

Let’ put this image into words and see if you conjure up the image…

catbrain1.jpg

…obsession with imaginary insects, mysterious adoration of just one spot on the bed, barf gland, search and destroy lobe for expensive imported textiles, ceramics, inexorable fear of vacuum cleaners, short circuit that makes a purring kitty an arm-shredding maniac in two seconds, licking gland, total drive to be where they are forbidden to go, shedding on freshly vacuumed surfaces cortex, can opener sonar, asthmatic person locator, inability to get along with new cat, hatred of dogs, commitment spot (get larger when can opener sonar is activated), infatuation with people who hate cats.

About Pet Monologues

Posted in Uncategorized on February 2nd, 2008 by PM

Pet Monologues is helping to heighten public awareness of animal issues and to encourage people to think about how we as humans relate to animals. Special interests: Caw to art! is an effort to showcase pets and animals in an ARTFUL manner. We have a year-long initiative in 2007-08 recognizing World Animal Day called Bless the Animals. We also feature design-driven modern pet products. And we are green. Very green.

Our Pets
Pets are important to us. They are considered both family and friend. They impact our lives in both big and little ways. They greet us when we come home. They pester us for attention. We know they can wake us up in the middle of the night and sound a fire alarm. We know they can be fierce protectors if given an opportunity. These are our happy tales.

We also have tales that make us sad. Some of our sad stories cause us to laugh when we share them with friends. That’s because everyone who has had a pet or knows a pet owner can identify with them. And telling these stories feels a bit like the proper closure.

This site is about our pets and their stories.

The Wurst Gallery puts on quite a show! Artists were invited to reserve a dog breed on a first come, first served basis. The only requirement was that the artist attempt to capture the look and spirit of their chosen breed in their own unique way.

I really don’t know if they emailed me or I found them.

But the connection was very late 12/07. Nonetheless, when the home page featured the image above… Not what I expected. Not the best of Rollingstone or vignettes in Vanity Fair. PM being an animal appreciation platform could not resist. What better way to bookmark this site than to put it in your blog? Featured in Caw to Art! #5

Three wise monkeys.

Mark A. Fredrickson lives in Tucson, Arizona. He attended Tennessee Temple College in Chattanooga, Tennessee, where he studied drawing and photography. He continued his education at the University of Arizona. In his senior year, Mark’s interest shifted from fine art to a career in commercial illustration. via (Angelos/paintalicious.org) Featured in Caw to Art! #5

The three wise monkeys (Japanese: san’en or sanzaru, or sanbiki no saru, literally “three monkeys”) are a pictorial maxim. Together they embody the proverbial principle to “see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil”. The three monkeys are Mizaru, covering his eyes, who sees no evil; Kikazaru, covering his ears, who hears no evil; and Iwazaru, covering his mouth, who speaks no evil.

Sometimes there is a fourth monkey depicted with the three others; the last one, Shizaru, symbolizes the principle of “do no evil”. He may be covering his abdomen or crotch, or just crossing his arms. ( wikipedia.org )
