A picture worth a thousand words.

Posted in Death, Issues/Opinions on February 28th, 2008 by PM

Winding down a pleasant day when this post found its way here. The story provided by The reality of what humans do needs few words from us. Their post “a picture worth a thousand words” is compelling. Visit their site for a more complete story.

paws-dead1.jpg

The graphic picture shows the grim reality of pet over-population. The photo caption reads: Two days’ worth of euthanized animals sit in barrels in cold storage at the Kern County Animal Shelter on Mount Vernon Avenue. The small animal shelter euthanizes about 25,000 animals every year.

Stories like this are difficult to report. But with dialog solutions come easier. Here are two more posts that mention the issue of neutering at lady omega and animals as friends

Scruffy goes organic?

Posted in Food, Green, Health, Issues/Opinions, Tips/Info on February 28th, 2008 by

Pet Monologues launched just as the pet-food recalls were front-page headlines one year ago. The events propelled us into the blogosphere to be sure. A year later it seems fitting to revisit pet-food and diet.

organic-dog1.jpg

We (PM household) have not yet gone organic but feel fortunate living in a large metro area where there are many choices. However we also find ourselves having to decide daily whether to pay the premium for eating organic. You can find a more in-depth viewpoint on pet diet in our pet-food recipe section.

Let’s think about diet, fitness, and spirit. We are the messenger at this point in time.

The top five benefits of natural organic pet food for your dog:

Whether or not you’ve “gone organic,” you probably know how crucial a role diet plays in your overall health. People who switch to organic foods report a boost in their energy levels. Their complexions improve and rashes clear up. They catch fewer colds, suffer fewer allergies, and recover quicker from illnesses. The health benefits of eating organic seem to last long-term. Sticky post

PM has waited a week to play this game. The list has grown from 200 to almost 600. We will be one-year old in two days! What the heck, let’s play!
note: we are now #593 in case you’re curious. Found via lakestrees and tagging Animals as friends

*Start Copy Here*
You do not have to be tagged to play along. This game is simple and so are the rules.
1. Copy from *Start Copy Here* through *End Copy Here*
2. Add your site(s) to the list. Just be sure to post at each site you add.
3. Tag or don’t tag, your choice, however, the more tags you create the bigger the list will grow.
4. Let me know your blog’s name and url by leaving me a comment HERE. I will add you to the master list. (If you would like the scroll box code, leave me your email address and I will email it to you.)
5. Come back and copy the master list back to your site, often. This process will allow late-comers to get as much link benefit as the first ones in. Read the rest of this entry »

Bird in my ass.

Posted in Gross, Humor, Stories on February 26th, 2008 by PM

FREDERICK:

A bird flew in my ass today. Yeah. I was sitting down in Central Park, just relaxing and reading the newspaper. I felt fine.

birdman2.jpgbirdman.jpg

Then all of a sudden, SWOOP, right in my ass…a bird. A tiny bird the size of, oh, I don’t know, the size of my palm. Really tiny, really tiny. Just flew right in my butt, without any explanation.

What did I do? I’m getting to that. It’s not everyday that a bird scoops down at a million miles per hour and seeks shelter up in your private region. Am I right?

Let me continue…

I stand up for obvious reasons and I proceed to wiggle my buttocks but nothing. The bird won’t come out and I could feel it’s heartbeat pulsating. Strangest feeling, let me tell you. So I try walking it off…still, nothing. Stubborn bird. I started doing jumping jacks, nothing. I began skipping, nothing. I started running up a hill and back down a hill, nothing. I dropped my draws and dipped my ass into the pond, nothing. I went so far as to climb over a fence and start scraping my bum across the grass, rocks and dirt in order to free the fellow, like a dog scrapes it’s behind on a rug. You’ve seen that right? But still to no avail, nothing. The bird stayed deep inside, clinging to the walls of my darkest of holies. Read the rest of this entry »
