Knock out animal fighting video contest.
Humane Society (HSUS) has contest. The votes are in! As part of our Knock Out Animal Fighting Video Contest, tens of thousands of people voted for the videos they thought best conveyed the anger, sadness, and other feelings we experience when confronted with the cruelty of dogfighting. Today, I encourage you to watch the winning videos and then take action to strengthen the laws against dogfighting in America.
See the two winning videos—both featured on the home page of YouTube last week.

Two videos stood out among the many excellent submissions by the amateur filmmakers who entered the contest. One short film, the People’s Choice winner, juxtaposes images of dogfighting victims with a plea for intervention. The other video, selected by judges at The Humane Society of the United States, recognizes the deep bonds our canine companions share with us—and how those bonds are betrayed by dogfighters. Warning: One of the videos contains graphic images.
Take Action! Ask Congress to strengthen dogfighting laws today, because dogs across America desperately need your help.
Dogfighting is illegal in all 50 states and a felony in 48 of them, but some states still allow the possession of fighting dogs and being a spectator at a dogfight. These weak laws do little to discourage animal fighters or encourage law enforcement to pursue cases. Now, legislation has been introduced in Congress that would make it a federal crime to participate in dogfighting, possess fighting dogs, or attend a dogfight. Urge Congress to protect dogs today.
The Humane Society of the United States is the nation’s largest animal protection organization—backed by 10 million Americans, or one of every 30. For more than a half-century, The Humane Society of the United States has been fighting for the protection of all animals through advocacy, education and hands-on programs.
